Presentation Counts - How To Portray Yourself To Potential Online Dates

When you have made decision to join an online dating service, one of the
first things you will have to do is describe yourself - that is your likes
and dislikes and what you are like yourself, in a way that will be both
truthful and attractive to those people who are also looking for a date. We
all know that no one is perfect, yet we all want to show only the best
sides of ourselves to others. How you present yourself will go a long way
to attracting a date, so how can you be both honest about your faults, yet
    still attract a date?

One of the ways to present yourself is with a touch of humor. Many people
are attracted by humor and will overlook minor faults if they are talked
about frankly yet in a humorous way. Of course, you may not want to mention
your faults at all and this will be okay at first. However you don't want
to start off a relationship under a cloud of dishonesty, so if your date
looks like it could go further than just online, it would be wise to
carefully mention that you are not perfect. It's okay, your date is not
perfect either, and if they tell you they are don't believe it.

Most dating services have a provision for a photograph, since most people
want to see what their date looks like. Choose a photo of yourself that is
as natural as possible. They say the camera doesn't lie, but the one taking
the snap can certainly make mistakes with lighting and shadow. So if that
shadow makes your nose look longer than it really is, use another photo.

It's important to be honest when you are trying to get a date, so don't use
a photo that is ten years old, even if you had less wrinkles then. For a
start, modern photos are much clearer and modern hairstyles and clothing
    are much more attractive!

Of course there is more to your presentation than a photo. You must
describe yourself honestly too. If you totally hate certain things, say so,
otherwise you risk getting a date who may love what you hate. Do you truly
want to be stuck out in the cold and rain cheering at a football match when
you loathe football? No! Better to say the truth in the first place.

It's not always easy to see ourselves subjectively, so if you are having
trouble writing up a positive description of yourself, ask your friends
what good things they see in you. You might be surprised what you hear.
Keep these points in mind and you'll soon have a date that suits you.
